The Ford Expedition and Expedition MAX are three-row SUVs with room for eight passengers maximum and a top-level 15.5-inch infotainment touch screen. Since regular 2022 Expeditions only offer 20.9 cubic feet of storage, the MAX gives you a nice cargo-room boost without sacrificing passenger comfort.

Power and Efficiency

Both vehicles have the same powertrain: a 3.5-liter V6 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Both get a combined 20 mpg, so the Expedition MAX doesn't cost you any more in fuel. The MAX's larger size does reduce the highest possible towing capacity to 9,000 pounds instead of 9,300, a minor reduction to a superb tow rating.

Exterior

The Expedition MAX achieves its expanded interior volume with a longer wheelbase, making the 2022 Ford SUV look even more impressive without affecting the driving feel.
