The Ford F-150, Ford's perennial best-seller, has evolved since its inception to include a hybrid option, an aluminum body, and turbocharged powertrains. The full-sized pickup can be configured in a variety of ways, from a utilitarian work truck to a well-appointed luxury vehicle and anything in between. Thanks to a significant redesign in 2021, the 2023 F-150 has undergone only minimal changes and continues to offer Ford's best technology features, a comfortable interior, and excellent towing and payload capabilities.

Trim Levels (Exterior)

The 2023 Ford F-150 has a strong, rugged appearance that comes in a range of vibrant colors. Eight trim levels are available: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, Tremor, and Raptor. The XL and XLT are the base models and share similar standard features, including automatic high-beam headlights, halogen headlamps, and all-season tires. The Lariat trim comes with a few additional luxury features while the King Ranch and Platinum models offer even more upscale items. The Limited is the most luxurious trim level while the Raptor is designed for off-roading. The Tremor is new for 2023 and intended for extreme off-roading and rock crawling.

Engine (Power)

The full-sized pick-up offers five engine options. The standard 3.3-liter V-6 engine delivers 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. Get an added boost with the optional twin-turbocharged 2.7 V-6 EcoBoost engine that boasts 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Other options include a 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine that supplies 400 horsepower and a turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8 with 400 horsepower. All engines are paired with a 10-speed transmission.

Performance

The Ford F-150 is capable in every way. The independent front suspension offers a comfortable, smooth ride, and you can opt for rear- or four-wheel drive. Selectable drive modes on 4x2 models include normal, eco, sport, tow/haul, slippery, and trail options. 4X4 models provide all drive modes found on a 4x2 as well as deep snow and mud/rut modes. Trailer sway control comes standard, and an axle upgrade and electronic-locking read differential are available.

Interior

The F-150 seats five people, and the interior is comfortable and spacious. Every model comes with black vinyl floor coverings with the option to upgrade to color-coordinated carpet and carpeted floor mats. Single-zone, manual air conditioning comes standard, while dual-zone, electronic automatic temperature control is optional. In addition, standard features include an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen, fade-to-off interior lighting, and intermittent windshield wipers. Additional features such as an interior work surface, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a flow-through center console are available.

Safety Features

The Ford F-150 comes equipped with a host of safety features that help supply a secure ride. Ford offers a variety of standard driver-assistance features, including a rearview camera with dynamic hitch assist, automated braking with pedestrian detection, and four-wheel anti-lock brakes. In addition, each trim level is equipped with Ford's AdvanceTrac with roll stability control, a tire-pressure monitoring system, and curve control, which automatically slows the vehicle when it's going too fast in a curve. An optional Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert is available.
